Physical Security of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives
AR 190-11 sets the physical security standards for arms, ammunition, and explosives: storage, arms room construction, key and lock control, and inventory requirements. Different property gets counted on different schedules by different people. Sensitive items are counted by serial number on the shortest cycle of all.

Property moves from the property book officer to the commander to the sub-hand receipt holder to the user, and a DA 2062 records every step of that chain.

The Equipment Receipt, commonly called the weapons card. It is issued to a Soldier and exchanged at the arms room for an individually assigned weapon or piece of equipment. It documents who has the item at any given moment and is turned back in when the item is returned.
